THE MOUTON CADET WINE BAR 2016 – A NEW SIGNATURE
Celebrating 25 years as Official Wine Supplier of Cannes Film Festival, the family company Baron Philippe de Rothschild was proud to present the renewed design of the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar, carefully conceived with the collaboration of the rising star of French decorative arts Mathias Kiss.

Located on the rooftop of the Palais des Festivals, this new space welcomed the world of cinema from May 11th thru May 22nd, 2016 in a casual yet stylish atmosphere, away from the agitation of the Festival.
Around the theme “The French Art of Living”, the 2016 edition of the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar is a hidden oasis in the spirit of the Mouton Cadet signature: half way between French Riviera style and Palm Springs modern architecture, its design outlined a sense of serenity, as if time was holding its breath.

The walls covered with large size mirrors reflected the outstanding panorama offered on the 6th floor terrace, opened on one side on the historical port of Cannes and on La Croisette on the other.

THE MOUTON CADET WINE BAR 2016 – THE EVENTS
A movie story
Throughout its history, the family company Baron Philippe de Rothschild has always shared an intimate link with the cinema world. Each year, the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar carries on and reflects this special relationship as it is the chosen place for celebrities and the cinema industry:
– to share a glass of Mouton Cadet wines and relax after official screenings, as did film director Woody Allen and his protégée Jesse Eisenberg following the official screening of “Cafe Society” on opening night.

– to take advantage of the perfect cinema decor offered by the terrace like the 2016 Grand Prix Award Winner Xavier Dolan, who specifically requested for the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar to organise interviews around the release of his latest film “It’s only the end of the world” with the presence of his first class cast: Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Vincent Cassel, Gaspard Ulliel and Nathalie Baye. “From the land of the moon” by Nicole Garcia was presented to the French and international medias, as well as Venezuelan director Jonathan Jakubowicz’s “Hand of stone”, featuring legendary actor Robert de Niro & US rapper Usher.

– or to welcome cultural prestigious prizes such as L’Oeil d’Or and the Angenieux Prize, paying tribute this year to English director of photography Peter Suschitsky, regular collaborator of Canadian film maker David Cronenberg, with special guests Juliette Binoche and Jury member Valeria Golino.

A venue of conviviality
For the entire duration of the Festival, the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar placed the art of hospitality, the essence of Mouton Cadet’s values, at the heart of its organisation.
In addition to its successful opening cocktail party featuring French singer Juliette Armanet and violonist Laurent Korcia, the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar had the pleasure of receiving Eva Longoria’s gala charity ball for the third year in a row, The Global Gift Initiative, in favour of The Global Gift Foundation & The Eva Longoria Foundation. Once again, Eva Longoria’s presence was very sought after.

The Mouton Cadet Wine Bar also welcomed “A Shaded View of Fashion Film” (ASVOFF), the international film festival on fashion created by American fashion icon Diane Pernet, putting the spotlights on Creativity.
A moment of privacy
Due to its exclusive location, away from the rush of the Palais des Festivals, the terrace indulged its guests to a quiet moment of privacy. Celebrities and journalists could exchange freely, as did:
– Michael O’Shea, who invited journalists from an intimate press junkets at the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar for his new movie “The Transfiguration”, selected in the category “Un Certain Regard”.
– The 2016 Jury, who gathered at the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar for the last time after the announcement of the Awards Winners. After 12 days of intense exposure, between official ceremonies and red carpet events, President George Miller and his entire Jury, Arnaud Desplechin, Kirsten Dunst, Valeria Golino, Mads Mikkelsen, László Nemes, Vanessa Paradis, Katayoon Shahabi and Donald Sutherland shared a private moment of conviviality in the intimacy of the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar.
THE MOUTON CADET WINE BAR 2016 – THE WINES
But the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar had also its own celebrities: its wines! Just like a movie star on the red carpet, the Mouton Cadet collector bottles were dressed up to the nines to try to steal the limelight of the Festival… with success! The limited edition was served during all official events of the Cannes Film Festival, and will remain available in selected countries for a short time only after the Festival.

Celebrities and distinguished guests of the Mouton Cadet Wine Bar this year have also celebrated a new creation this year: the Green Cadet. Served on demand, this long drink cocktail made of Mouton Cadet Sauvignon blanc, served on ice in a large glass, with a dash of cane syrup and just a lime zest, has conquered guests throughout the Festival.

Mouton Cadet Wine Bar has closed its doors on the 69th Cannes Film Festival and invites wine and cinema lovers in 2017 for new cultural and emotional encounters.
